Paul Renner: The Third Elegy

The history of the Third Elegy is closely linked to the Fondation Rilke. The temporary exhibition shows an extract from the cycle that Austrian artist Paul Renner created based on the Duino Elegies.

Introduction

Paul Renner was born in Bregenz in 1957. In 1976, he met Hermann Nitsch, for whom he worked as an assistant until 1984. In thematic cycles, he combines painting, literature, philosophy, nature and gastronomy. His exhibitions and projects have been shown in the following museums and institutions, among others: Kunsthaus Bregenz, Kunsthalle Wien, Houston Contemporary Arts Museum, Contemporary Arts Institute Omaha, Galerie Leo Koenig New York, Galerie Konzett Wien, Imago Dei Festival Krems and Fondazione Morra in Naples.
