In 2024, the Fondation Rilke launched a series of bilingual publications with Schwabe (Basel). The first volume is devoted to poems in double version (F/D).
During his years in Switzerland, Rilke created a series of double poems, written in both French and German. Although they share similar themes, these poems follow different inspirations. This book presents them together for the first time; based on a pair of poems, an afterword sheds detailed light on these works. To facilitate comparison, the volume also features a new translation of the poems written in French, close to the original text.
Erich Unglaub, a Germanist and comparativist, is Professor Emeritus at Technische Universität Braunschweig and a member of the Rilke-Gesellschaft.
Curdin Ebnetera member of the Rilke-Gesellschaft, was curator of the Fondation Rilke in Sierre. Together, they edited the book Erinnerungen an Rainer Maria Rilke (3 vols., Wädenswil, Nimbus, 2022).
